Warriors vs Lakers took an interesting turn ahead of their October 13, 2026, preseason meeting in Las Vegas. Golden State entered the matchup without veteran center Al Horford, who stayed behind as part of his planned workload management.
Meanwhile, Lakers big man Walker Kessler was reportedly close to making his preseason debut after recovering from a finger injury. His possible return raised concerns for the Warriors, who have been experimenting with smaller lineups.
Head coach Steve Kerr has leaned on Draymond Green at center, with rookie Yaxel Lendeborg providing additional support. Without Horford, Golden State faced a potential challenge in rebounding and protecting the paint.
The matchup offered an early opportunity to evaluate how the Warriors' smaller rotation could handle a traditional seven-foot center before the 2026–27 NBA regular season.
